Dr. Reeva Ramcharan

Dr. Reeva Ramcharan is a Licensed Psychologist with several years of counseling, psychotherapy, and assessment experience. She received her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University where she received extensive training in individual, group, couples and family therapy as well as psychological assessment. Her training sites include The Chrysalis Center (a community mental health center) Barry University Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (university student counseling center), and two years at The Renfrew Center (residential treatment center for Eating Disorders). Dr. Ramcharan has been providing services in a private practice environment since 2013.

Additionally, Dr. Ramcharan has enjoyed participation in a variety of educational, community, and charitable organizations. In addition to her doctoral program, Dr. Ramcharan has completed a two year Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Course through the Florida Psychoanalytic Institute and Association. She also has experience in volunteering with Florida Hospital, Green Peace, Habitat for Humanity and the Alliance for Eating Disoder Awareness.

Dr. Ramcharan works with a wide variety of presenting issues. Among her areas of expertise are: eating disorders/body image disturbance, Self-injurious behavior, Substance Abuse, traumatic experiences (childhood or adult), family issues, interpersonal difficulties, intimate relationship problems, issues related to gender identity and sexual orientation, Women’s issues, obsessive thoughts, perfectionism, depression, and anxiety. She draws from several theoretical orientations, including Object Relations Psychodynamic theories, Existential-Humanistic theories, Attachment Theory, Family Systems Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Based approaches and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Dr. Ramcharan is trained and experienced in providing trauma informed treatment. She strives to work collaboratively with each individual, couple, family or group to identify their unique goals and challenges in safe and supportive environment. She tailors each client's psychological treatment in order to best meet their goals, help them improve their functioning and nurture healthy and adaptive ways of relating with themselves and others.
